TURK AND OSCAR GET WILD
The Oscars!!! -I can’t even believe it. Best picture goes to the Hurt Locker? Don’t get me wrong I saw the movie, it was solid, current, and sad - but again with a war movie winning while we are in a war. Seems a little suspicious to me, when Avatar is the biggest and best selling movie of all time.
I am very happy to see that Sandra and Mo’Nique brought home awards. They very much deserved it, and Sandra’s speech was excellent.
As for the fashion though - what happened this year? I saw a lot of poofie wannabe ballet gowns, and a lot of gowns that looked like sheets wrapped around the women LOL. In particular, Sarah Jessica Parker and Avatars Zoe Saldana (an absolutely stunning girl, but what were you thinking?).
My friends and I did our annual Oscar Party and bet on who would win. I came in third this year - better than nothing. But none of us got best picture right, we all thought it would go to Avatar
For a picture, no 3D here …perhaps a little Film Noir lol…

I know where you are coming from, and I guess a lot of people agree, Hurt Locker was the lowest grossing picture to ever win the Oscar, but I thought it deserved to win. When two pictures are so different it is almost impossible to say which is the better.
As for the dresses one wonders who let them go out dressed like that.
Hugs to Turk and the Turkies

Hey Turk!
I have not seen either film but with 10 films to choose from I am sure that made it more difficult to choose. But reading Foster’s comment and seeing that Hurt Locker brought in very little money, I cant believe that it won. Love the pic of you. B/W pics are sometimes better than color pics. So much more definition. Gotta run. Take care pal and HUGE HUG for you and all the Turkies!

I would have to say that I was kinda shocked that Hurt Locker won best pic…. I saw Aviatar and it was a great pic! should have won…. Didnt pay much attention to the dresses… they all look like they took their bed sheets and put them on
Is that what you wore watching the oscars??? that would be a MAJOR distraction.
Taylor (from New Moon) was hot! I would love to mount that wolf.. LOL
Your pic is hot Turk… I agree with Dave.. the b/w pic is nice
Have a great day!
Love and Hugs

for me Turk, Avatar won awards for its strengths like design, and Hurt Locker won for its strengths such as great tension, excellent script. I remember being exhausted after watching it, and coming away with a greater understanding and appreciation of what the troops have to go through when dealing with buried devices. And the tremendous angst they undergo when seeing someone using a cellphone during a bomb disposal operation. With 10 films in the running, votes were really spread around. In 1943, when there were 10 flics in the running Casablanca won, also a wartime picture. It has had a long history of being played over and over again. I predict Hurt Locker will too. It’s kind of generic in the sense that we’re never really told where the troops come from. They could be from any country in NATO for instance. It also deals with a new kind of hi-tech warfare, setting off bombs anywhere by cellphone. As you patrol the streets or highways, and see people talking on cellphones … are they about to send you to your grave. Enemies could be waiting behind a wall and as you pass dial up a number BANG. WOW lots of tension, great directing, creating the feeling you’re right with the guy who’s trying to cut the right wires, gripping. As you see i’m delighted at the win, and have a copy of the flic on my dvd shelf, big hug Turk XOXO, big hugs to all Turkies XOXO
